Bilingual 1st and 2nd grade
at Stembridge School!

In the 2024/2025 academic year, we opened a bilingual 1st grade using the team-teaching model, in which non-linguistic subjects are taught by two teachers who speak different languages (Russian and English).

In the 2025/2026 academic year, we are opening a new 1st grade using this model.

This model allows each child to gradually achieve the required level of English for learning while maintaining a good understanding of the subjects, school rules, and also guarantees emotional support and care for everyone in a language they understand.

Immersion in a bilingual environment from an early age will not only strengthen your child's linguistic abilities, but also expand their cultural horizons, developing a deep understanding and respect for the diversity of the world.

Teachers, working in pairs, combine bilingual methods:
  • Situational language
creating a lesson framework and classroom traditions, using constant phrases, classroom management, visual support in English
  • Translanguaging
receiving information in one language and working with it in another
  • Bilingual discourse strategy
It doesn't matter what language the child answers in, the discussion continues in two languages
  • Collaboration
natural language modeling using co-reading and co-watching practices
  • Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
applying English learned in language lessons to other areas of study
A unique opportunity for your child
  • Developing high cognitive skills and improving academic performance

  • Children studying in bilingual programs remember new information faster and easier
  • Students learning a second language are more comfortable with tasks that require creativity and imaginative thinking

  • Knowing a second language is not only about accessibility of communication, but also about penetration into another culture and development of tolerance.
  • Subjects under the Cambridge International Programme will be available from the first grade at any level of English proficiency
  • The constant presence of a teacher who speaks Russian ensures smooth adaptation and preparation for future education in English.
Two languages—one goal!

Bilingual education is the key to the future.

Knowledge of languages opens up new opportunities for children in the modern world, building essential cognitive, linguistic and cultural skills.

We immerse children in a multicultural environment, giving them a chance to explore new horizons in today’s world. Let’s learn together, starting today!

Valentyna Zhylina, teacher in a bilingual class
A solid foundation for successful learning and life
Children who learn in two languages develop their mental abilities faster and become more open to other cultures. This is a great start for their education and future success. Learning in two languages will also help children easily adapt to the modern world, where knowledge of several languages is becoming increasingly important. Children will understand other people better, will be able to communicate with them in different languages, which will open up more opportunities for them in the future. In addition, such learning develops their thinking, memory and creativity.

Ekaterina Dumshas, 1st grade teacher
We don’t study the language, we learn from it!

A multilingual school environment is a natural response to globalization. After all, learning in a foreign language allows you to master not only everyday language, but also academic language, which opens up opportunities for self-realization in many parts of our world. On the other hand, this is a deep penetration into other cultures. And preserving your native language at school allows you to preserve your own identity.
