English Language
Primary School
this skill is currently in the early stages of development; we write short words and phrases, and fill out simple tables, cards, and sentences.
The main goal is to create interest in learning the language and increase children’s confidence so that they feel that English is accessible, fun, and useful.

In Primary School, English is taught according to the Cambridge Global English programme, adapted to the age and abilities of the students.

To make lessons interesting and comfortable, classes often take place in playful and interactive formats. The school actively uses online platforms such as:
Baamboozle
team quizzes and games for repeating and reinforcing vocabulary and grammar
Kahoot!
interactive quizzes that children enjoy
Wordwall
for reinforcing vocabulary and grammar (often used for independent homework)
English lessons include role-playing games, songs, card games, and mini-projects so that every child can take part. This helps not only to learn words but also to use the language in real situations. Children learn to work independently as well as in pairs and groups.

In Middle and Senior School, English instruction also follows Cambridge programmes.

Since students enter classes with different levels of preparation, the school has developed a flexible learning model combining traditional methods with game-based, project-based, and communicative formats.

Our students do not just study the language — they develop all the key skills emphasized by the Cambridge approach:

  • Reading,
  • Writing,
  • Listening,
  • Speaking,
  • Critical thinking,
  • Collaboration
  • Language Awareness.

In the Secondary School timetable, students have 15 to 22 academic hours per week of instruction in English. They also participate in events and excursions conducted in English.
The following subjects are taught in English: Mathematics, Science, Computing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Physical Education, Global Perspectives, Art and Design. English is also used in Theatre, Ethics, and Physical Education lessons.
Our students do not just learn English as a subject — they learn through it.

At Stembridge School, we strive to build a real bridge from Stembridge to Cambridge. This bridge is about attentive care for each student, the combination of modern teaching methods, high-quality materials, and teachers who strive to speak the same language as the children — both academically and personally.

At the end of the school year, students throughout the school take Cambridge Progression Tests in selected subjects, and our learners consistently show excellent results.
