АНГЛИЙСКИЙ И ЛИТОВСКИЙ ЯЗЫК
The English language curriculum in Secondary School is based on Cambridge programmes.
The model is flexible to support students with different levels of language proficiency — combining traditional teaching with game-based, project-based, and communicative learning formats.
Students do not just study English — they learn through English. Key skills developed include:
Our students do not simply study English as a subject — they learn through it. Subjects taught in English include: Mathematics, Science, Computing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Physical Education, Global Perspectives, and Art and Design. English is also used in Theatre, Ethics, and Physical Education classes.
In the Middle and Senior School timetable, students have between 15 and 22 academic hours per week taught in English.
At the end of the academic year, students across the school take Cambridge Progression Tests in selected subjects, and our learners consistently demonstrate excellent results.
At Stembridge School, we strive to build a real bridge from Stembridge to Cambridge. This bridge is built on a careful, individual approach to every student, a combination of modern teaching methodologies, high-quality learning materials, and teachers who aim to speak the same language as children — both academically and personally.
In Secondary School, Stembridge uses an original Lithuanian language programme developed by the school’s teachers and adapted for non-native speakers.
First and foremost, we focus on developing communicative skills and strengthening students’ interest in learning Lithuanian. When children join the school having not studied Lithuanian before, or when their level of language proficiency is significantly lower than that of their peers, a special support group is created for them. In this group, students learn Lithuanian from the very basics and gradually reach the level required to continue studying together with their class.
In Grade 8, students take the National Lithuanian Language Assessment.
In Grade 10, students sit the Lithuanian language exam, which is a requirement for receiving the school leaving certificate.
In Grade 12, students also take a Lithuanian language exam, where they write either a traditional essay based on Lithuanian fiction or an essay in analytical format.
Thus, by the end of Grade 12, students are expected to have a strong command of both spoken and written Lithuanian.
All students at our school have sufficient time to study the Lithuanian language and to prepare thoroughly for the required examinations.
Comfortable and Safe Environment
Ensuring physical and emotional safety is one of the school’s main priorities.
Teachers and staff work to create a comfortable environment where students enjoy coming to school, can develop their full potential, and achieve strong academic results.
The school emphasises bullying prevention and social support. Educators actively help students build empathy, learn peaceful conflict resolution, and cultivate respect for others.
Stembridge aims to create an atmosphere where children trust their teachers, and teachers value student initiative. Education is presented not only as learning but as a natural and engaging process. For Stembridge, school is more than an institution — it is a family.
